For Finance Professionals Who Are Looking to Add Strategic Value to Their Organization
This is the fifth post in our series: Implementing Change – The 6 Keys to Transforming Your Finance and Accounting Function.
We’re excited that you’ve decided to take the first step on your journey towards transforming your finance and accounting organization – either through implementing new software, engaging consultants to streamline processes and systems, or outsourcing certain functions. AcctTwo is here to help you evaluate your options and make the best decisions that will propel your business forward.
Last time we shared Key #4 with you. Today, let’s look at the 5th key in this important process:
Key #5 – Understand Software-as-a-Service (or "Cloud")
The verdict is in on whether or not this is a viable model, and the answer is a resounding "YES"! This is the new normal and the future of most enterprise software applications. If you haven't already figured this out yet, get with the program.
If you choose to stick your head in the sand and think that traditional on-premises systems are still a better choice, all I can tell you is, some of your competitors have figured out SaaS is the way to go, and they will be taking advantage of greater economies of scale in their systems infrastructure; higher security, performance and availability; better mobile access to their systems and data anywhere, anytime; and a much faster pace of technology innovation to BEAT YOU with better tools, processes and automation.
Your competitors are taking advantage of SaaS and will beat you with better tools, processes, and automation.
And if you're trying to compare SaaS solutions to traditional on-premises vendors (again, why would you even consider those?), you need to make sure you understand how to compare apples to apples, especially from a cost perspective. On-premises solutions have a lot of hidden costs, which the vendors and resellers are not going to reveal to you out of the goodness of their hearts if you don’t ask.
